CooperVision convened leading US and Canadian eyecare professionals (ECPs) at its annual Myopia Luminaries event in Las Vegas on January 7. Held ahead of the Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS 2026), the event spotlighted the central role of ECPs in shaping the future of myopia care, bringing together clinical evidence, real-world outcomes, and emerging best practices.
Presentations and discussions featured insights from Mark Bullimore, MCOptom, PhD, who emphasized the importance of clearly defining treatment efficacy in myopia management. Additional sessions explored how evidence-based, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved therapies can bring greater consistency and confidence to clinical decision making. The program also addressed the human side of myopia management, with Shimi Kang, MD, highlighting communication strategies that build trust, counter misinformation, and support families through empathy and collaboration.
Canadian clinicians contributed real-world perspectives on accessible, patient-centered care. Shalu Pal, OD; Vishakha Thakrar, OD; and Kylvin Ho, OD, shared clinical outcomes and emphasized the importance of practice leadership and a comprehensive myopia management portfolio during a panel moderated by Nathalie Trottier, OD, senior manager professional and academic affairs Canada.
