The health ministry has approved Japan's first eye drops designed to slow the progression of myopia. Specifically, the ministry approved the production and sale of atropine sulfate hydrate, which was developed by Santen Pharmaceutical. Santen Pharmaceutical says the drops are unlikely to be covered by public health insurance.
